OVERVIEW

In kastellorizo you will enjoy good local cuisine, the sea and a good warm climate away from the noise of "civilisation".

Traditional foods and sweets
Foods: goat stuffed with rice (usually at Easter), meat balls, chick-pea pie, salantroumasi (stuffed onions), saitia (rice with onion, mint and tomato), many varieties of fish (swordfish, tuna, sea-beam), etc.

Sweets: koutoumari (round pan-fried pastry with sugar, cinnamon and cloves), halva, "straba"- crooked (baklava with kneaded pastry sheets) and others.

Swimming
There is excellent swimming from the rocks near the port, in Faros, in Plakes and in Mandraki.

Though there are no beaches as such on the island, you can take a little boat to the little islands of Ro and Strongili to swim and also to the particularly beautiful "Fokiali Blue Cave". Very impressive!
